NYC Potholes is a community map for reporting street potholes in New York City. This policy describes what we collect and why.
Information we collect
- Account data — If you sign in with Google, we store your name, email, and profile photo as provided by Google.
- Reports — Location coordinates, description, and optional photos you submit.
- Activity — Votes and comments you post on pothole reports.
- Technical data — Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) for security and debugging.
How we use it
We use this information to display pothole reports on the map, attribute contributions to your profile, prevent abuse, and keep the service running. We do not sell your personal information.
Photos and public content
Pothole reports, photos, votes, and comments are public on the site. Your display name and avatar appear on content you create. We do not show your email address on public profile pages.
Third parties
We use Google for sign-in, AWS for hosting and photo storage, and OpenStreetMap tiles for the map. Each provider has its own privacy policy.
We may show ads on the map page through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. See Google's advertising technologies policy and manage ad personalization in Google Ad Settings.
